Open government means transparency and accountability to citizens

The monthly Message From the Mayor newsletter adds to the City of Palo Alto's array of programs to encourage active citizenship.

In the State of the City address, Mayor Espinosa  expressed a commitment to facilitate open government, advocate transparency and encourage community engagement. This newsletter is just one element in that plan.

You can expect the City to use technology more effectively: look for a new web site, new Facebook pages and pilot programs that will allow residents to communicate quickly and directly to City staff about issues and receive timely updates in response.
